"Until the end of his life, Lennon maintained that the song was actually inspired by a painting that his three-year-old son Julian had made of Lucy O'Donnell, his classmate at Heath House nursery school."

Who would have known...I guess I just assumed back in those days

Most of us assumed, lol. And Paul never died, lol.

The song is all that counts not its intent, some interpretations of the words. Its astronomical !

It makes you think, envision the Pleiades !

I live in the country, I prefer the sound of our two creeks. In warmer weather the chirp of the crickets and cicada, occasionally I hear a frog or two as well as other night critters. Playing in the music field my whole life, the last thing I want to hear is music. For me the silence of the night and the sounds of the environment is music to my ears.

I know my favorite is ' Lucy in the Sky Like Diamonds ' !  Now thats an astronomical description. Maybe those that wrote it were a little bit astronomy ?

"Lucy in the Sky WITH Diamonds". They say if you can remember the 1960's, - you weren't theresmile.gif.  I read it was a painting/drawing by his son's friend Lucy at school. If that is the Beatles explanation, - I am good with it.  Also, - if you are going to approach that "Starman waiting in the Sky", my advice is bring the Bagels, - leave the Bowie Knives at home.

You can't get any better than the sounds of crickets, frogs and .... !  They can be music in your mind, your Lucy.

This is a nice fan made video with some cool astronomy stuff in it. The song is from Bruce Dickinson called Navigate the Seas of the Sun, from the Tyranny of Souls album. Bruce's solo albums are absolute hidden gems (he's also the lead singer of Iron Maiden). My favorite album is A Chemical Wedding, but almost all are extremely good (not a huge fan of Tattooed Millionaire). In fact, I think I like a few of his solo albums as much or even more than some of the best Iron Maiden albums.

Anyways...here it is: https://youtu.be/qnoAgIkbRDw

Bee Gees - Night Fever

It was on the radio one day as I drove down a long road to a state park for our monthly outreach program. How appropriate!

When I regularly used the local club's dark sky site west of Tucson, I used music as an aide to coffee consumption for the drive home - usually performed sometime after 1am. (At the time, staying overnight was not an option.) I compiled a CD of suitable tunes, plugged it in as I left the site, and turned it up. The disc started with Vertigo by U2. Now, every time I hear that song, I remember long night drives back into town. (Had to stop doing that. No combination of music and coffee can keep me rolling safely in the early hours, these days.)

I like to put on "Khruangbin" (some nice groovy instrumental music)

Then I usually get in the mood for "Pink Floyd" ...Echoes and that into buildup on Shine On You Crazy Diamond bow.gif

Sometimes it's "Tool" or "Between The Buried And Me"

All over the place, it just depends on my mood and what I'm observing or imaging that night.

Most all of John Serrie's space music CD's

The Stargazers Journey

Thousand Star

And the Stars go with You

Planetary Chronicles Vol 1&2

The Sentinel

Flightpath

Day Star

I made a playlist of my favorites from the above CD's for a night's worth of nice music to listen to while observing the Heavens.

I find that Deadsy's Mansion World, Drab Majesty's Dot in the Sky, and Bowie's Space Oddity are all pretty "spaced out."

I don't actually listen to music while out observing, however. The concentration upon the heavenly wonders already dulls my situational awareness to the acceptable threshold.

Star by Futurecop!

https://www.youtube....h?v=Pi8ccp5VI3Q

Go out
Middle of nowhere
Lay down
Next to me

No cars
No people talking
Just stars
And the two of us

Pick out a constellation
One that you'd remember
The sky looks so clear
In mid-September

Pick out a constellation
One that you'd remember
The sky looks so clear
In mid-September

Although when I look above
The stars call me home
Sending out the sky
So hard to back swing by
The stars call me home
Light years away
Past the Milky Way
Is that where I should be?

I look back at you
The moon rising, too
You look back at me

Gazing up at the stars with you
We don't have anything else to do
Gazing up at the stars with you
We don't have anything else

Another dream passed on a planet far away
Just past Polaris, that will lead the way
Flying through Andromeda

We don't know just where we are
A distant star

Gazing up at the stars with you
We don't have anything else to do
Gazing up at the stars with you
We don't have anything else

Another dream passed on a planet far away
Just past Polaris, that will lead the way
Flying through Andromeda

We don't know just where we are
A distant star
