Howdy y'all! I just took possession of a beauty of a Swift 831 that's nearly complete and in fairly good condition! I will hand it to the UPS Store, they did a great job packing the wooden box, but failed to put ANY packing material on the inside, so there were some clunkers when I opened the box. Luckily the counterweight was still attached to shaft otherwise that wrecking ball would have done a LOT more damage. I don't know how much was already existing or how much was new, but when I opened the box, the image erector has multiple large clams in the glass and the prisms internally. I doubt I'll be able to find a replacement for this guy, so I was wondering if there are any "compatible" barrel style erectors from any more common scopes that I might be able to harvest the glass and prisms from?

Thanks!

-Jordan

congrats on your new scope

i just received a jason telescope today that the ups store did the same after promising me to use bubble wrap.   i had a quick look and all is good so far, but i expect trouble when i dive in.

post a picture and, better yet, remove and measure the prisms.

CharlieB was gracious enough to not only measure his swift prisms but to also measure and find a perfect match among his collection and is sending it to me on the house! A true gentleman!

I'll definitely share the before/after pics.

Replacement erector with donor prisms received today compliment of CharlieB (you're the man!). Successful transplant between erector and now the swift one is as good as new. Woohoo!

Chipped and delaminated prism vs new shiny.
