Ah, what the heck.

Here's my third Messier target, and my first star cluster at that: M13, the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules. It's nothing stellar (ha ha ha), but I have modest goals, so I'm happy with it.

M13 06 (2)

Nice, but maybe crop it a tiny bit and center it?

Nice.  You got the propeller, and the small galaxy.

Actually it's quite nice! Very well focused and good tracking.

Thanks!

I didn't even know about the propeller until I saw a reference to it in response to another image posted here on CN!

I knew about the galaxy, though, and was definitely looking to capture it - that's why it's framed as it is.

Hm. I accidentally double-posted this, and I think this version might not exist any more ... frown.gif

But ... it is slightly cropped, but only to remove the edge gradients from stacking. The off-center framing was to preserve that little galaxy to the left of center. I had intentionally framed the image to capture it, so I'd hate to lose it!

Nice going. :) Globular clusters are quite unforgiving and reveal the slightest problems with technique. You are doing quite well if this is just your 3rd Messier. Keep it and shoot it again next year and compare. It will help reveal the progress you are making!
