Scary stuff - stumbled across this on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.c...4_t2_B08PBQ4ZY8

Note - not sold by Amazon; it's a third party. Several sellers have them.

Still, I can't believe anyone sells them - or that they still make them!

I left a question regarding the filter cracking and causing blindness. Hopefully, we can scare off the uninformed.

Good call - I’ll look into contacting Amazon as well.

Left a review - Amazon will review it, and hopefully pull the product.

I doubt many people are buying these - but it only takes one.

Jim:

Good catch.

Here is where you can contact Amazon.  I don't have an account, my wife does it all.

There's a link for "report product information" on every item. Use it to tell Amazon not to allow this type of filter, that it can easily fail and cause blindness. I've sent lots of messages, and they generally take them down quickly.

I just did that with Amazon.ca.  Thanks for the heads up.

Someone was trying to sell some here 1-2 days ago.  To give the seller some credit, they were labeled "not for use".

I wondered if they were going to remove the posting.

I've contacted Amazon - will post any updates here.

Decep - I totally get someone wanting a vintage EP sun filter to complete their classic scope setup; those aren't the people who would use them, they're just completists.

But the Classic Telescope folks aren't looking for a new one on Amazon - someone is going to buy one of these and use it...

I still have one of those and use it. I'm a can't throw it away-ist. grin.gif  I finally figured out a good use for that dangerous thing. I Crazy Glued it to the front of my cheap RDF. Now I have a very safe solar RDF and the red dot works too. waytogo.gif

Here's a link to the rest of that vendor's storefront: https://www.amazon.c...D=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Should be obvious what business they are in ... a junk dealer.
