Where can I get a fairly foolproof Onstep kit to upgrade my CG5? I can do some soldering and assembly. I've made some arduino projects but I'd rather not have this be too complicated. I'm happy to pay a little more to get a head start.

Contact George at https://www.stmbluepillkits.com   and his order page is at: https://www.stmbluep.../order-kit.html

It is a easy kit to put together (George can supply all of the required parts) and then just upload the arduino sketch from the OnStep site.

If you are looking for pre-built solutions, I think there are a couple of options from Europe -

1. Instein.eu - I have no direct experience with this solution, but looks like a nicely put together package.

2. Emanuele de giorgio - He is an Italian vendor and I got an OnStep controller built by him for my E.Fric mount. Great to communicate with, reasonably priced and the controller is rock-solid for me. Won't win any fashion awards, but that's not what I bought the controller for :). If interested, PM me and I can send you his email address.

Not sure if the above would be cost-effective for a CG5 though, since they end up costing north of $250.

I did what ScottsdaleJohn recommended.   If you are OK with some soldering and simple Arduino work this is pretty straight forward.  A 3D printer is super helpful.  Here is a link to my CG4 conversion

At the end of the day, doing the project is at least half the fun!

The last time I looked at the onstep site, the MKS GEN-L board option did not need much/any soldering. There might be other options.

The showcase is also good to see people who have motorized the mount  you have. Especially for motor bracket ideas.
