Hello,

This my first post and I recently purchased a Sky Watcher solid tube 10" dob.

I'm still learning how to point this scope and noticed a problem with these plastic grommets where the tensioning handles screw in on each side of the base. (I think that is what they are called).

Basically when I tip the base, these grommets fall out.  I lost both of them and would like to find a replacement part.

Can anyone provide a link or assist with what size I need to order?

Thanks,

Mark

Welcome to the forums Mark!

You should be able to measure the hole size for the grommet OD and the shaft size for the hole diameter and order some replacement grommets from McMaster-Carr for a few bucks.

Overall length is 5/8 ths of an inch,   the outside large diameter (shoulder)  seen in your pic is almost a full inch in diameter .  The outside diameter of the piece that inserts into the wood counterbore is just shy of 9/16 ths  . The inside diameter hole is  just shy of a 1/2 inch .   The hole in the dob mount is between 1/2 inch and 9/16 ths. The threaded  bolts  are 3/8 ths inch so theres  PLENTY of room going thru the bushing ,smile.gif , its not a tight fit. The bushings  on the side of the mount hold most of the weight.

Thanks for the quick replies.  I checked McMaster-Carr and I don't see an exact match.

Sky Watcher Support did respond and they do not have these available for sale.

I will try again and report back if I find an acceptable replaced.

Thanks Again,

Mark

Thanks for the Welcome's and the quick replies.

I ordered about three sizes that might workout.

@Kipper-Feet - Thanks for the suggestions for a workaround.
