NINA and its 'Direct Dithering' function

Hello everyone.   I use NINA and want to try dithering using its Direct Guider facility.  The software's "Manual" is not at all helpful and only mentions its availability. 

Can someone explain how it is implemented and how to choose the number of pixels to dither?

When you chose direct dither , settings come up to configure it. Its pretty self explanatory
