Hi All,

I am super excited and I promised to share info and pictures when my 24inch SDM scope was nearing completion.

Its been an interesting journey since  November 2018  in ordering the 24inch f/4 quartz mirror from Carl and putting in the order as well with Peter Read (SDM telescopes). I have learnt a lot along the way and made many friends.

I never thought I could own a SDM telescope with a Zambuto mirror but dreams do come true. hamsterdance.gif  Carl and Pete have been super understanding and its been great to correspond with both of them. I could not ask any more of either gentlemen who have been always gracious and patient with my many questions.

The 24inch SDM was the first SDM scope I ever ordered and its been my ultimate goal to acquire this scope.   bow.gif

I hope to add to the stable of SDM dobs at a later stage when possible.  lol.gif

A 24" is some serious glass. Enjoy!

a__l, I hardly think you can call Peter Read a beginner because he puts a finder scope on this masterpiece.  You are entitled to your opinions of course but I doubt your ten years experience comes within a bull's roar of Peter Read's skills or knowledge.

Are you also suggesting that a SIPS adds weight but a Paracorr2 does not?

My post may not be my most tactful but after reading many of yours......

Hi Matt,

I wholeheartly agree with you Matt. waytogo.gif

It was me who wanted a finderscope firstly to be clear. I don't think you have all the details a__l. I am sure there are many others with more years of viewing. laugh.gif

Love the SDM scopes and plan to acquire 2 more after the 24inch as validation I consider them exceptional craftsmanship and quality. If I could get more I would.

What I have noticed through your various posts is a negative vibe. confused1.gif

Holy Mother of God. To have a telescope that big in the Southern Hemisphere.... You're a lucky guy!

Many thank Elzopilote, I feel privileged to be able to get scope and mirror of this level.  I am a super happy custodian.  flowerred.gif

I hoping to share the experience with many others in the Southern Hemisphere and visitors as well. waytogo.gif
