Without a set of good (i.e., properly usable) rotating rings, a Newt on a GEM is at best a pain in the neck to use. Literally... not to mention in the back, the shoulders, legs... I started with a small Newt on a GEM 34 years ago and didn't know any better. Years later, I tried putting my 8" f/6 Dob OTA on a GEM. It reminded me not to do that.
I can understand the utility / necessity of it for imaging, but for visual? For me, no way. YMMV.
But FWIW, I do like white scopes and even white mounts. Maybe A-P is to blame... LOL
