Despite continually improving my skills, equipment, and processing, seeing has continued to deteriorate this year. It's happened so gradually that I got used to progressively worse seeing, and even started imaging when I wouldn't have bothered last year. The last straw was when I even posted the garbage I captured in the most appalling seeing I've had in a very long time.

Somehow I ended up posting garbage that looked like this:

2021 07 29 1407 7 U L Jup limit000000 028000 P18

When last year with less equipment, skill, and experience, but the same telescope, I was capturing stuff like this:

2020 11 02 1123 8 L Jupiter DeRot P30 Out

Oh my...

I know what you mean - I haven't got one "good" image of Jupiter this year.

Last year I posted some images I took on the night of the 28th of August where I lamented that I'd had such good seeing lately that I'd forgotten what bad seeing looked like - until that night. And even then I was only able to capture Jupiter that looked like this lol.gif .

Hopefully things will turn around for August - lots of interesting things coming up with the gas giants, surely things have to turn around soon...

Yes two years ago was great for winter seeing, since then it has been fires and floods in SE autumn and Australia.  I used to enjoy a bit of Deep Purple but continually seeing it Live on Meteoblue over the last few weeks makes me want to bang my head!
