Hi Guys, I'm using Siril to do some DSO imaging.  The issue is that when I use dark frames it usually desaturates the image, sometimes to a point that my signal (usually the red from H-alpha emission) gets washed out as well.

I'm using cosmetic correction, trying go have just a few thousand pixels (less than 10k) corrected.  Master dark is generated by stacking Windsor sigma/Median sigma clipping without normalization.

For the stacking algorithm I usually go with Windsor sigma clipping with the default parameters that are 3 and 4 for sigma low/high respectively.

When stacking in DSS everything seems fine, but Siril dark calibration seems a little bit better, that is why I'm trying to make it work.

Here are the files if anyone wants to have a deeper look.

Thanks in advance,

Hi llastrophotos,

A belated welcome to Cloudy Nights!

I recently started using Siril to calibrate vice RawTherapee. And today I had exactly the same result on the exact same target with v1.0.4. The obliteration of the red in Carina is the same with and without cosmetic correction, and with and without background extraction. If I deBayer without calibration, the color remains (though the overall sharpness seems to diminish).

Moderators, suggest moving this to the Beginner forum, as no one in Experienced has responded to the OP's first and only post in well over a year…

Cheers,

BQ
