Hi, I haven't been around for a long while. I had a long break from telescope observing.

So, I was wondering about a Canadian Dobson maker that built and sold ultralight scopes. I lost the bookmark to their page. Several years ago they had a good supply of mirrors in stock and ultralight truss scopes. I see Fullum comes up a lot in searches, but it's not him.  Does anyone know what this company might be?

Thanks, Mike

Could it be Sky Observing located in the Toronto area? Their website seems to be in construction but there is a phone number you can call or text to. I believe the owner’s name is Zoran.

Zoran puts his new telescopes up on Astrobuysell. Check his stuff out there.

Also Optics Fullum makes Dobs. Some huge ones as well.

20210801_104840.jpg I think you are talking about Zoran from Sky Observing. He is from Toronto and can make a Dobsonian from start to finish. Here is his card with phone number. The website is being revamped.

Guys, thank you for all your replies. Sky Observing was the one I was looking for. I,ll check out Steve's site also. I think I must have missed it because the site was under construction. The way back machine let me see it is the same one.

Thanks again, Mike

I find Zoran’s ads on Astrobuysell interesting. You think there might at least be some sort of stock image in the ad of one of his creations even if it’s not the scope being built.

Question to Canadians anyone actually seen one of his scopes? I’m curious.

See here for unboxing impressions/first light and here for a photo album of the telescope.

Thanks Pierre. That first light reports was absolutely the best.

He looks like someone I might suggest if I ever hear of someone looking and wanting to buy a bigger scope on this side of the border.

Bill, 5 or 6 years back, I used one of his early 20" scopes under a dark sky. He was still sorting out the design  and there was a little astigmatism visible (20" f/4 + 41 Pan). He later told me it was traced to the mirror support.

(Apart from the shroud and focuser) Zoran does all the work himself and he turns out some excellent instruments. I visited his workshop a couple of years back - there were 4 or 5 scopes on the go at one time, so it would seem he doesn't lack for business.
