Hi

This is probably technology and design stolen from PierTech with every material and component downgraded in quality. Think about whether that’s honorable behavior and product integrity that you want to support.

Gary

But if it is not a rip off of pier tech and its just a linear actuated lift jack like the other dozen companies that make linear actuated lift jacks then its possible that an unfounded accusation is being made?

Pier-Tech is just using lifting columns that were already on the market. They didn't invent anything.

It’s well documented here on CN that PierTech was using Linak’s DL2 telescoping pier with their early models. Last fall, I purchased a DL2 from Linak for less than half what PierTech was charging at the time. If someone is looking for a permanent telescoping pier, you simply can’t do better than a DL2. Targets stay dead center in the middle of the FOV from bottom to top.

There was no crying at all with my purchase.

Linak is a well respected German company.  I'm not quite sure why you'd think there is some quality difference. Chinese, sure. But you probably have a chinese camera coupled ot a chinese telescope coupled to a chinese mount too.  Either way, you can get a lifting column from lots of different sources.  In fairness to Pier Tech, we should refer to them as lifting columns and not bash his product or compare them.  He provides a service for a group of people; most of us just really enjoy finding a DIY if we can.

Linak is actually a Danish company with their manufacturing also in Denmark. Their products are top of the line.

Hi Taylor,

any update on the AliExpress pier?

Best, Laura

I received it awhile back. Looks well made.

I need to have some adapter plates made for it to connect it to the bolts in the ground where my current pier is, as well as a top plate made to connect my EQ6 mount head. Due to work and kids I haven't had the time to get this done, so I'm not sure when I'll actually get it mounted and tested.
