So I have the 1958-59 old style Tasco 10 TE  The one with the thicker  long drawtube that goes way in the tube. I picked it up locally and the box and parts where all there but it was not in the box.

I have seen a thread or two where folks say take off the focuser and dew shield etc. Along with not knowing how  this older model goes specifically in its box, the focuser is not coming loose yet.

It has these two old style hexagon ish spacer/holder things I also need to know where the mount goes  and how to fold it properly

And always a concern  where   and what to do with the counter weight?

Thanks in advance for your kind assistance

 Barry

That does not look like a 10TE box, and those do not look like 10TE legs, that I know of.  Had a few, still have one. I've had two different versions of the box, and yours is not one.  Your box looks too short for just the white portion of the OTA tube.  The 10TE did not use those hexegon pieces. Does the box have a label?

Of course   I now realize that you are .... The box has the label   Tasco 762

Tasco 76.2 mm Telescope

600x  192x  120 x

Made in Japan

I guess no the original box. Funny  I have had this scope and the box  for a couple of years and never looked at the  box   not had a need for it. Now when someone wants it   I encounter reality. Okay thanks so much...This is why it was sold to me locally and not in the box   I will have to alert the potential buyer of the new development and see what he might want to do.

There’s a good picture of the original 10te box.

With the two wooden spacers, it looks like it is stored the same way as my 1959 7T 304 (RAO) and ~1959 Soligor f/20 (RAO).  The tripod, mount, and OTA all stay attached, the legs are folded back over the mount, and the two wooden spacer go between the legs.  The counter weight is stored between the spacers, with the bar going through the holes.  On my 7T, I only have to take the dew shield off, and the Soligar requires the focuser to be removed.  But it has a storage compartment for it and I don’t see one in your case.

Keith, that is the original box for your first version of the Tasco 600 Power 10TE circa 1959 to early 1960 give or take.

Do a search for me and should find pics of the box there are others buried way back in the archives as well. All my pics are on another laptop which I has a failing hard drive. Very long story.

Wow! The wooden case looks like a work of art! Very nice!

Clear skies and keep looking up!
