This is my Tasco 10TE's 0.965" visual back thread diam.  I was able to use the 30.5mm to 37mm then a 37mm to 42 T thread step up on the Tasco scope:

attachicon.gif10TE 0.965 v back thread diam.jpg

I measured the 6339a visual back's thread and it is exactly same as the 10TE's..

It measured 30.4mm - although my caliper goes only up to 1 decimal precision so probably rounded up.

My absolute favorite, the Takahashi 1.25" eyepiece holder for 36.4mm focusers.  True compression-band tightening, unlike the Baader version, this one stays concentric as it's tightened.  Usually out of stock and the most expensive of all.

Not Tak but works fine if your Swift is "on the list". I think it is.

I have two extras available, a Vixen and one off EBay. I ended up getting extra because of long indeterminate lead times.

The difference is interesting... One has the tube (and hence your 1.25" barrel) going into the telescope tube and the other (the Vixen) extending from it.  So one might be preferable to you.  I'll post a picture of both... PM me if you'd like one.

As of today Explore Scientific is selling the Vixen adapter.    I can't tell if they are actually in stock.

So glad I found this thread as I debated where to post this...............I have been looking for a 1.25"  adapter for my Goto Telepac 60 al:

https://www.cloudyni...al/?hl= telepac

With the ID of the focuser tube measuring 31.85mm it is an oddball size.  Yesterday I found an adapter that works and the funny thing is I have owned this little adapter for several years.  It came with the Unitron Unihex model B 1.25" version.  I also used a 1.25" unitron short tube eyepiece adapter.  This adapter also works with the Goto Hyscore model 451.

Hi Folks,

I am searching for a 1.25" eyepiece holder to fit this Cave Newtonian focuser, c. 1979. It appears to match the Meade model 640.

The internal threads measures about 36 mm. Could this be the Vixen 36.4 size as suggested in post #38?

Regards,

David

I have ordered this from Telescope warehouse guy's (Bill, I don't know his cloudy nights username) ebay store.

Haven't received it yet so can't confirm if it will fit my meade telescope with 36.4mm thread. Will confirm in a few days if you want to wait.

I bought a Vixen piece (with 36.4 mm threads) that fits my focuser except for there are more threads than what will fit into the drawtube, so it does not seat all the way on by about two threads. It works well enough.

Possibly the thread pitch is slightly off. For your Newtonian focuser you could just grind down the threaded side until it fits then glue it in permanently.

Turns smooth about 4 to 5 turns, then hits a hard stop before it is on all the way. I counted the threads and there are more on the nosepiece than there are in the draw tube. It is not worth risking damage if I mess up the threads. I might order the Baader compression holder if this project scope turns out to be a keeper.

Someone mentioned the Celestron SC visual back trick por Polarex telescopes. By a happy coincidence the thread of the VB match the Polarex draw tube.

I have slightly modified one of these VB for a nicer look, lighter mass and greater backfocus:

I have a related problem with a Celestron SP-6 that has a Vixen sliding focuser. It's difficult to make fine focus adjustment because you have to lock down the slide (which never holds focus during the process). If you don't lock down, it will creep down and you will lose focus that way as well. With the plastic gears I'm not a fan of tightening the fit of the gears to stop creep with some of my eyepieces that can be quite heavy.

I have a 60mm extension tube and a Vixen Optics EA 36.4mm to 31.7mm adapter for my 1.25" eyepieces. Unfortunately, I'd like to get a helical focuser so I can use the slider for rough focus and  and make the fine focus at the eyepiece. Agena Astro sells a Baader 1.25" Eyepiece Holder with 36.4mm Vixen Male Thread and Helical Microfocuser. I was wondering if anyone has one of these and whether the male thread would fit nicely on my extensions. BH Photo also sells an Alpine Astronomical Baader M36.4/T2 Adapter ring. Any comments of suggestion with that would be greatly appreciated as well.

Andy,

I have a Celestron Comet Catcher, with the Vixen sled focuser - similar to the one used on the SP-6 scope of yours. I did the helical focuser mod on mine.

It's been some time since I purchased the helical focuser for my scope, so I'll need to go through my older posts and see if I can find the part number. The one I bought was SVBony brand, and I bought it on Amazon... if I remember correctly. It was either there or Agena, but fairly certain it was Amazon. It was Vixen 36.4 Male thread, directly into the sled base, no adapters were needed at all. I have no experience with the Baader or the Alpine unit.

If I dig up the part # I'll let you know.
