I'm currently running Firefox on WindSucks-10. I was using W-7 but, the HD took a dive so, I'm using the bigger box right now. It is likely that the ad-blocker is interfering which is not an issue for me. I like the layout of Yahoo better. However, I really miss my XP-Pro! It was perfect! Just to make things worse, we now have WindBlows Eleven coming out! ARRRRRGH!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!!

By the way, that ATCO in Youngstown is already gone. Thank goodness! I would have liked to see it, though. The upside is that the old man has once again been denied an excuse to run back to his old stomping grounds! Saved again!

Q

Windows 10 Firefox here with no issues. You may wish to refresh Firefox.

That 839 was listed here on CN 5 days ago.  I guess it is still available.  It's SN was posted too.

The price is about where it should be at for a Swift, if it's in great condition and complete as the seller says.

Looks like the one advertised in S&T in the 60s.  Monumentally overpriced, especially lacking a motor!

Not telescopes, but two vintage microscopes up for auction in Ajax, ON - just east of Toronto:

Bausch and Lomb, Rochester, NY, in wooden case. Est. $100 - $200: https://www.murraysa...hester-ny-usa-/

Nachet brass drum microscope with multiple fittings and lenses in a mahogany case, mid 19th century. Est. $300 - $500: https://www.murraysa...-19th-century-/

That’s at least a thousand dollars over the top! At least!! Insane!!!

The nutso prices hat these NKs were commanding ten years ago has finally declined to a much lower orbit. This one is also in fairly poor condition; not dreadful mind you, but not good either.

That’s a nice scope at a reasonable price. One seldom sees a 5” AP triplet for two grand.

The seller added a bunch more pictures today, including this one, looks like a chipped objective, that'll take a lot more off the top.

Vixen Super Polaris EQ mount with clock drive, hand controller, polar scope, and short-legged (but extendable to become less short) aluminum tripod:

https://zenmarket.jp...ode=q1005759381

Rather clean-looking Vixen Polaris-80L (D=80mm, F=1200mm, f/15) on original Polaris EQ mount, tall wooden-leg tripod, with slow-motion flex cables and accessories:

https://zenmarket.jp...ode=q1005435227

Unfortunately no picture of the objective lens -- clean exterior doesn't rule out mold+fungus on the objective, so buyer beware ... and with the legs, the shipping cost to USA is likely to be in excess of $200 (just FYI -- YMMV).

EDIT #1:  Seller reports "The lens is not cracked, but it is a little dirty."

EDIT #2:  Also, for anyone new to Zen-Market auction browsing, don't be put off by "Junk" in the item title and/or description.  As I first learned in a post maybe 6+ months ago by Bomber Bob, what gets auto-translated as "Junk" is simply the Japanese seller's way of indicating the item is being sold in "As Is" condition ... typically a far cry from what we English speakers would refer to as "Junk".

What would be the vintage on that?  I’ve never heard of an A-P 5 inch f/6 APO triplet.

Yes a clamchip.

It will make a big difference in the value, that's why I have as many telescopes as I do.

They are mine for life, most amateurs go ballistic if they so much as see a dust speck.

Likely ~'85-86ish.

A-P offered two f/6 triplets prior to the StarFire line:  a 4-inch and a 5-inch.  They were designed to fully cover a 35mm frame.  Objectives were MgFl coated.  The bare 5-incher weighs about 12 pounds (sans finder, diagonal, eyepiece).

Best wishes.

Dan

Great price for the mount too.  Very nice modern GoTo copy of the Great Polaris with probably the best electronics/firmware.

Basically it's the same scope as a APL Mayflower or Manon.

Basically it's the same scope as a APL Mayflower or Manon.

It does look like a blue and gray version of my Mayflower 814.  It's marked diamond BOL, which I think is "Bushnell Optical Labs", which they used for special projects with Japanese manufacturers.  So it could definitely be an SYW (or APL?).   Here's my box minus the OTA.  SGW has rotated two of the styrofoam pieces wrong (and left the objective cell off to rattle around).
