At that price anyone local should grab it. I would buy it and put it out there. What's to lose?

I saw that, then looked at the image of the broken objective, then read, "I did speak to an optometrist who said it could be replaced however the buyer will need to look into replacement as I do not know much about it" and decided on a hard pass. "...I do not know much about it" is Ebay speak for "I know that it's borked and overpriced".

Yeah , I read that too , but thought it was worth a share cause of the coolness factor & rarity , Thanks for commenting & looking ... You're right about the ebay speak interpretation waytogo.gif

Too bad about the optics. If it's a traditional fraunhofer achromat it wouldn't be too difficult to replace, but it would definitely be a ship of theseus type restore.

I've noticed like this Monolux, that many of the older models that are not branded Asahi don't have the 6 slot head screws.

Nice observation! I'll keep an eye on that one. Do you have any links/pics to some of the models that lack those 6 screws? Certain serial range?

These early 60's gray Sears models are fairly rare and this is a very nice example.  Most might think this ones mount is just like the zillions of other Sears and Towas you'll see but I recently found that these early ones are slightly different. (amongst some lesser things, the RA shaft is much shorter) Also, this scope still has the rarely intact paper band with the inspection sticker on it which helps date it. My 9TE came with one and I was told it's from '63.

Thanks. No links I can think of. I download photos from interesting telescopes sales and articles for my files and bookmark some CNs threads. I lost a bunch of photos when my last computer died so many were lost. I know Russell's Colonial is that way and possibly some of the Jupiters but I'd have to check and see what I have. I'm pretty sure I have photos from two other recent Monolux sales that lack them.

Beat up but accordingly less expensive Tak 102 and 76 fluorites and a Borg 100ED.  My guess is these are Japanese auction purchases that are being flipped for profit:

"Vintage Celestron Telescope" for sale in Ottawa for CAD $80. Includes "some books and accessories". The mount looks like it has an internal polar axis sighting scope. Seller has not responded to request for more details.

Or is the 313 a carbon copy of the 6333?  But $240 starting bid?  $100 is a nice price to buy it. It looks to be in nice shape.

Just a short time ago wasn't there 4 of these on Ebay?  And they were there for a long time too.  I don't think they sold.   This one won't either.

The accessories, including the hand controller, eyepieces, and Telrad look fine. The wedge is probably easily refurbished. The tripod could probably be refurbished, but may not be worth the effort. The mount and drive system are trash.

Most importantly, no images of the optics are provided. *Could* be donor optics for a busted scope, but I would assume they're in as bad of shape as the mount.

Maybe $100 for the effort.

Cobalt Blue Dynamax 8 with Golden Pyramid Tripod, AND the collectible Criterion branded carry bag, AND some optical blanks? for $150 near Jacksonville, FL. The tripod is worth that alone, so this is definitely a great deal for Cloudynights Classics favorite SCT.

https://jacksonville...7374147398.html

12"? ZScope in Houston, and boy oh boy is it a looooong boy. Sliding tube weights? which seems a bit odd, you'd think you'd just adjust the scope's position, but with that focal length maybe accessories make all the difference. Maybe f/7? $1350 and its yours

https://houston.crai...7374265484.html

On that dob near Houston, it looks like it would be severly restricted in altitude due to the weights on the back hitting the rocker box.
