For those familiar with Stellafane, the Springfield Telescope Makers and the history of such, the Hartness House needs no introduction. Now you can by an enclosed, below-grade observatory equipped complete with a ten inch refractor, and it comes with a house with 40 guest rooms for all of your observing buddies. What's not to like?

That is...way less than I anticipated. Is it atop mining waste? A sinkhole? Old burial grounds?

I am pretty sure it is designated a historical land mark so you cannot do much changes to it which is a good thing, it keeps money hungry developers from coming in and tearing it down.

Heck, that price barely gets you a 2-bed 2-bath 2000 sq.ft. house on 1/2 acre around here...

That makes sense and is good to know. Thanks.

That's an amazing price!

That's about the same value as my modest 3-bed, 3-bath home here in Hawaii.
