I'm hoping the optics look as good as the body ....

I have a beater pair I picked up at a garage sale for 5$, and I find them a real joy to look through. I love the wide immersive view.

You got a great buy!  I've bough several old Tascos at thrift shops, pawn shops and a camera show and never paid over $15. One 7x35 made by J-E32 is one of my sharpest, brightest legacy binoculars.  DrJ1

An old "beater" pair of binos. I know exactly what you mean; the kind that "Mad Max" would have slung around his shoulder while he is roaming around the post-apocalyptic, barren wasteland finding what-ever he can to survive.

Interesting, kinda wonder if at night, good old Max might be tempted to use those old beaters to look up at the southern sky? Is it possible that in a "post apocalytic World" if any surviving Amateurs may still have "star parties", but I disgress. $5.00? Are you kidding? You actually should have been laughing all the the home! Good find and a great price!

Clear skies and keep looking up!
