Ordered from Highpoint...

What's the over-under on when it actually arrives?

Physically, or Metaphysically? Waiting on any new scope can be an existential crisis for many in the Western world!

I am pretty sure Highpoint waits until your weather is expected to be awful before shipping. My experience anyways smile.gif

On Agena Astro's web site, the next projected shipment of 925 Edge HD scopes is mid-May of 2023!

So they make you pay up front, but if it doesn't ship in one week they credit you back your money until it actually ships....  OPT said they thought 2-3 months.... Astronomics said basically "we have no idea, supply chain is a nightmare"

Gives me time to work on my guiding i suppose...

It's anyone's guess at this point. Out of all the "major" scope retailers, I've noticed that Agena seems to get a trickle of stock more often than most. I ordered my C9.25 Edge from them a few months ago when one such microburst of scopes became available.

I think what is happening is that, because of Covid-19, factory shifts in the Far East have been reduced by some factor to limit the spread of infection.  And since this happens at every stage of production, for advanced products like Celestron's that have a large number of stages, the time to completion increases.  You might say that it telescopes...

As for High Point, shipping was always very fast before Covid-19.  The last order I made with them was an iOptron AZ Mount Pro at the start of Covid-19.  That product was delayed for a long time, but High Point did not charge me until my unit was in stock and ready to ship.  In my experience, it has always been a very good, very ethical company.

I’d definitely keep an eye on Agena. I placed an order in May for an 8” and OPT guessed Nov. Agena somehow had 5 in stock in Aug plus a few 9.25s so I cancelled the Opt order and Agena had it on my doorstep 3 days later.

I received my C9.25E last month. I had an order placed for a while, but kept checking other vendors daily. Finally the scope and mount I wanted was available at Telescopes.com, and I cancelled the original order and go it a week later.

I would suggest the same strategy. There doesn't seem to a reason for who gets a scope and mount in stock.
