I saw Turn Left at Orion on ebay for $15, I did not realize there were updated editions and this was the 3rd.

I was reading that someone was recommending the 4th or 5th edition for star-hopping.

For those of you familiar with both, is the newer editions better?

Thanks, Phil

I actually found a second or third edition at the store the other day, and it's basically the same as my updated version. The blurb on it said the star charts were updated for 2006, but in today's world the reliance on those charts may not be a big deal. I never use them anyway.

If you're planning on using the book just as a reference for "what's good to see" for a beginner on a typical night, then any of the editions will serve.

I don't know the exact count of objects covered, but one of the major additions in the 5th edition was the Coma/Virgo cluster.
