Full Moon (known as the Barley, Corn, or Fruit Moon, and this year's Harvest Moon) occurs today at 23:54 UT (7:54 p.m. EDT).

It seems that the Harvest Moon is in the news in a big way. wink.gif

And here is my view of this year’s Harvest Moon, taken the evening of Sept. 20th, near Seattle, WA.

These are some of the hand-held iPhone photographs that I took of the rising Harvest Moon from the Naylor Observatory on Monday night.

This is one of the hand-held afocal photos of the Harvest Moon that I took through the 17" classical Cassegrain and a 56mm Meade Series 4000 "Super" Plössl eyepiece.  The Moon was still low in the sky and the conditions were not the best at the time.

Much later I went outside to take some afocal photos of the Moon from my driveway.  I just missed getting an iPhone shot of a full lunar corona.

Here's a hand-held afocal photo of the just-past-full Harvest Moon that I took on Tuesday morning using a 6" f/8 Orion SkyQuest XT6 Dob and a 25mm Orion Plössl eyepiece.

Here's a couple I took about 27 hours past the harvest moon Tuesday night. So I guess a day late. The bat photo-bombing the second picture was a plus! smile.gif
