I have just purchased this beauty but it has the northern hemisphere motors but I am in Australia, has any one fitted replacement dc stepper motors to these or know where I can purchase the clockwise ac motors?

Easy to convert an AC synchronous motor to reverse direction. Just need to change the leads the starting cap is set for.

Sometimes it can be built in with a switch.

Would also need to convert to 230v / 50 Hz, assuming these are 110v / 60 Hz motors.

The motors on a C-8 are not  reversible. These are two wire unit so the phase on the coil is hard wired in. To reverse an AC synch. motor, that requires the motor has two windings and three or more leads  and a  capacitor.  Which side the of the capacitor is wired to the  incoming voltage determines which coil is leading vs following, which determines the direction that  the motor turns.

So for a C-8 used in the Southern Hemisphere you need motors that turn in the correct direction at the correct RPM and also ones made for the correct voltage and frequency. I believe Australia use 230 volts and 50 Hz.

You are correct sir. Anyone got a correct motor model name and specs from the motor casing from those old motors. I don't have a Byers model although I do have one of those 3rd party worm drive models that stick out of the standard case. Don't remember the brand as its still in the box it came in.
