That is a DUMB setup to say the least. 

I agree, bought https://www.ebay.com/itm/393095721492 and https://www.ebay.com/itm/254903013404. Will try if connecting these two cables will do it for me, provided I get polarity correct.

My mini-PC uses the same 12V power connector as my mounts, cameras, router, dew heater and everything else.

Nice, do you have a link to your mini pc or knows which brand is it. Can you also tell me which router are you using along with your mini pc. I think I read in some post on CN that windows pc can be used as a router through some software if I am not mistaken, not sure though.

It is the previous version of this with a N2930 processor, I upgraded the M2 SATA disk to 256GB.

I am using an older discontinued TrendNet router. This is a cheap router that runs on 12V, it should work fine for you.

Yes, you can use a windows PC as a router and I did. But every time Microsoft did an update, I had to hook up a monitor, keyboard and mouse and reinstall the ADHOCK router software.
