Hi,

I am getting back into this hobby after 12 years.  I have an Orion Atlas EQ-G Pre 2009 mount.

I would like to change out the saddle from the original (which just loves to mar up the dovetail bars)

to a dual, like the newer EQ-G/ EQ6 mount has.  The problem is the newer style from Orion does not fit and they

no longer make the original replacement.  I was even looking for a replacement puck but no one gives dimensions

so I can't tell if they fit.  The old one measures 2.9" outside diameter.   Does anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks

Henry

This might be it, not sure.  You would need to check the profile.  It's been awhile and I can't remember which is which (Old vs new).

When I did that on my older Atlas, I just went this route...

For me it was cheaper, and the bonus of a more secure/rigid connection.  I took it a step further and drilled two holes in the puck to bolt (from underneath) the vixen portion of the adapter to the puck.  I could then remove those two hand screws that are marring your dovetails.

I have replaced the original saddle on both my Atlas mounts with ADM's, they are expensive, but great.

The difference between the old and new style is the mounting disc.

Thanks guys,

Last year I ordered from Orion the new dual saddle which claims to work with the EQ-G.

The profile was correct but the diameter was smaller so I returned it and after a phone conversation, found out

that the part is no longer available.  So at this point I believe the current pucks are smaller in diameter.

It's very frustrating that there is a lack of dimensions given on many "metal items" in this hobby.

I called ADM but just got the answering machine.  I'll try again tomorrow.

I did my 2008 EQ-G Atlas with the ADM puck and dual dovetail. It worked perfectly and the quality lasted (and it still just fine!)

I ordered the puck and dual saddle.  Thank you guys for confirming the fit.
