Heya,

Man, I've not seen the sky since 9/5! It's been over 35+ days of rain and clouds here in Florida, despite the "sunny" name and that's freaking October and the fall already. Crazy. So tired of it. Anyhow, today is the first clear day I've had in what felt like ages so I didn't want to waste a bit of it and quickly went for a trifecta of the lovely AR2882 and discs in HA, CaK & WL. I didn't push my images scales today, seeing was ok, but not great. The temps dropped a bit here, in the 70's (F) so there's a large morning temperature delta that ruined my best seeing moments, but it was good enough for moderate resolution.

Very nice set, Marty!  Glad to see your images again.  waytogo.gif That's quite a long drought. Hopefully, the rainy season will come to a close soon.

That's quite a long drought. Hopefully, the rainy season will come to a close soon.

This year has been awful so far. I've been looking back through my logs and seeing which summers I've been able to be productive which is correlated with weather.

2017:

June to October period (this is Hurricane season) number of sessions in this period: 5

This was the year we had Hurricanes Irma & Maria back to back which gobbled up the whole summer basically

2018:

June to October period (this is Hurricane season) number of sessions in this period: 40+

There were storms, but nothing major in my area that just stayed on us for weeks on end, very productive summer

2019:

June to October period (this is Hurricane season) number of sessions in this period: 14

Another stormy summer, the storms were not major in my area, but we were covered constantly

2020:

June to October period (this is Hurricane season) number of sessions in this period: 12

It was bad last year, lots of big storms, it stayed wet and cloudy all the time

2021:

June to October period (this is Hurricane season) number of sessions in this period: 10

This year has been storm after storm and sarah dust, etc, no majors hit my area, but we have been just covered the whole time with clouds & rain

Just awful skies in Florida these past few years from June to October. It just stays cloudy & rainy. The rest of the year is productive with far better weather patterns. I'm just so over the summers in Florida now.

Very best,

Nice shots, Marty.

By the way, sound like you've been having our weather. Still, it won't be snowing down there next month, I bet. lol.gif

I dunno, it just may! It likely won't snow of course. But I had snow and hail a few years ago, freak weather in like April or something. And our storm seasons are just getting worse and worse across the board. I'm at the point where nearly half my year (June to October, 4 to 5 months essentially) is lost to weather. Not even just bad seeing or bad timing. But straight up clouds and rain from morning to evening. I work 3 days a week so I typically can be off for good weather with 4 days a week to go for it. So the timing usually isn't the issue. It's strictly morning weather for me. And it's awful nearly 5 months out of the year now. I keep thinking of moving out West, sigh.

Very best,

Great looking photos Marty.

We are getting prepared to get snow.  It will slowly begin working it's way lower and lower in altitude and once it gets here in a couple weeks won't go away until May.

Is what you get some kind of Monsoon season?

Chuck

Chuck

It's just our typical hurricane season. All countries with coasts (and islands) around our belt (the Hurricane Belt; or Hurricane Alley) around the globe eat hurricanes on this side of the globe and are renamed to typhoons on the other side of the globe (over in tropical Asia, etc). They get it at the same time too.

https://en.wikipedia...Hurricane_Alley

It sucks though. It's gotten worse. The past few years we've gotten a CAT5 level storm every year. So far, we missed that this year, but had plenty of smaller storms that have just kept our skies wet, clouded and nasty. It's just ironic living in the "Sunshine State" of Florid and half the year is clouds. You look up average sunny days per year and its completely false lol. Maybe 50 years ago it was different. Florida is clouds half the year easy. South Florida is a little different, and practically another country and economy, but the rest of Florida (which is a deceptively large long state) is just a swamp of clouds.

Very best,
