Hi all..

I've finally getting a rig together slowly but surely. A few months ago I was able to pickup a Classic C5 and now a wedge, I'd love to get it powered up but being that i'm in the Southern Hemisphere (Sydney, Australia) 220v is the norm, unfortunately the scope drive requires 110v.  Has anyone gone through the process of sourcing a power cable and have somehow retro fitted a power source?  Look forward to hearing from you.

You need  to change the motors out because besides the voltage difference, the motors for the Northern Hemisphere are turning  in the opposite direction for the southern hemisphere and they are not reversible.

Could easily replace the motor with a stepper motor, rate/speed/direction from an Arduino and feed it 12VDC instead.

That's crazy good.  Didn't think such units were buzzing around on the market.

You can buy a stepdown transformer from 220v to 110v.  The power cables are about $25 and the transformer is about the same, depending on the wattage.

I don't think a stepdown will be sufficient. I believe their power is 220V 50hz and and the synchronous motors are likely 60hz. I would recommend swapping the motors for correct direction/voltage/frequency if available.

Correct, it is not just the voltage but the frequency and the direction of the motors that need to be changed to work in the Southern Hemisphere.
