So, I've never used a motorized focuser, let alone know how to connect one to my PC. It comes with a standard phone jack connection and all the nuts and bolts to hold it. Did I miss something for it? Do I need a controller?

You need to go to the Pegasus website and download the control application and driver to your pc. Then connect the motor to your pc with a usb cable. Finally, get the pc to recognize the motor. Then get your imaging session software to recognize the motor.

The phone jack looking port is for the temperature sensor.

The focus kit only has an Ethernet port on it. You need to either buy their controller or use the controller on their ultimate powerbox if you have one.

So it is not the version two?

If you want a standalone solution you need to buy the focus cube...the focus motor kit requires a separate controller IIRC.

I just went through this process so I can confirm that rockstarbill and JCDAstro are correct.  You need a Pegasus controller to run the focus motor kit, either the standalone controller or the Ultimate Powerbox v2.  The Pegasus website explains it all.  If you decide you want the focus cube you’ll likely have no trouble selling the FMK in the Classifieds.
