Does anyone make a premade battery case with cigarette lighter, USB, and 12vdc barrel connectors that you can just drop the deep cycle battery of your choice into for remote site power? Or is DIY the only option?

Battery box?   Although some DIY may be in order.

Here's one on Amazon with 1 USB, 1 cigarette lighter input, and a power meter that's intended for a trolling motor. Would this be safe to run a mount and cameras? Or does the power need to be further regulated?

Larry,

A Google search led me to a nice non-DIY box sold by HardKorr in Australia. A second search turned up the same unit with a different brand on Amazon. You would need to check the physical dimensions to make sure it will hold any battery you wish to put into it.

This has just about everything I would want or need. It has 12v cigarette outlets, PowerPole connections, USB power outputs, a master On/Off safety switch, multifunction display, and more. More searching could probably turn up similar units with different brand names.

I went the DIY route for the same features but if this one had fit my battery, I could have used it. The cost ended up being similar.

John, thanks for the tip! That one looks like it's definitely better suited for an Astro rig.

What's the advantage of something like this vs. the dedicated lifepo-based solutions? Is it primarily cost?

Cost, simplicity, and being able to choose the size battery you want.

I use one of these:

everything that I attach, including those cigarette plugs, have Anderson Power Poles on them. All my scope and accessory power is Power Poles including my laptop - bought the 12 volt charger for it also.

I use a big 100 ah AGM but am pondering a LiFePO4 for the weight thingie.

And you can use them for your trolling motor!
