My fully loaded mount was blown over. I tightened the RA belt and there is no play in the belt. I cannot remember if the mount had slack/jiggle or idk what before it fell over. I think it did but idk. I am attaching link to a video of the small shimmy the mount has when you jiggle with your hand. I know my HDX 110 does not do this. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks for that. As I went through the process, I discovered the RA worm has a slight lateral movement. Obviously anything more than 0 is an issue. Any ideas how to “tighten” that up?

Do you have the CEM40 RA Worm Replacement pdf?  I am sure that's what I need.  Thx!

No. Only had the one on adjusting the play and belt tensioning.

Don't know if there is one for worm replacement. Might check with iOptron.

Hi Everyone,

I have significant freeplay in a brand new CEM40EC in the Dec axis not RA. Does anyone have success getting these procedures to remove freeplay in the Dec? The instructions have a number of disassembly steps for the RA that seem excessive for Dec.

I've also contacted iOptron.

Thanks!

I’m guessing it’s loose end caps on the worm gear.

Brass endcap at end of worm… loosen its setscrew, turn inwards the endcap until tight, back it of 1/16 of a turn and tighten setscrew… done.
