A few nights ago I queued up a 3am target (horsehead) in NINA and was pretty confident - iGuider was doing just fine with my Skywatcher 72ED refractor and I had seen reasonable guiding and round stars all night.  Imagine my disappointment when I found a bunch of useless subs the next morning - star trails and odd multiple exposure artifacts.  Was struggling to understand why this could have happened until I took a peak down the iguider hole - nestled on the lens was a big fat snail that decided to make a new home bigshock.gif bangbang.gif

Pried the little bugger out of there and cleaned the slime off the lens - no lasting damage done other than some snail poop on the mount.

Wow, that's a first (that I've heard about) for me -- imaging ruined by snail!

Those little buggers will go everywhere though...!

Been there; done that!

Only with frogs, not snails. A great big slimy wet frog made a mess of my primary mirror requiring removal and cleaning!
