This month Zane(Augustus) has supplied this image to start our monthly restart. Though many of us here are members of the 'old as dirt club' some like Zane, are not. Young men and women like this will carry our love of the hobby forward through the rest of this century. As a very active member and poster to several forums here on cnights we have all become familiar with Zane's interest and zeal for all things 'scope'.Zane sent me this picture of two recent classic acquisitions,a 60mm layfayette rfr he found in Long Island and the schwaar 12" he recently posted about. I had asked him how he found the Schwaar jewel and he shared this with me.
"One of the clubs I'm in was recently contacted by Pierre's sister (he died before I was born). She offered me what was left of his collection and I went to pick it up today (10/13). Pierre left behind a 10" f/4.5 and working Bigfoot mount, a 4" f/5 altazimuth scope(mirror now sent for recoating), the 12" f/6 OTA shown, and a 14" f/4 astrograph with a partial Bigfoot mount and meniscus primary mirror. The 14" f/4, unfortunately, had a lot of damage to the tube and had to be scrapped, while the other scopes really need recoats, but they are in mostly sound condition. Looking forward to restoring them".                      Thanks Zane!

The basic guideline for this thread is to list ads and auctions for classic/vintage scopes and associated accessories that others may be interested in. Do not post your own ads or the ads of your friends, this includes items you may be trying to sell for someone else. We request that you do not post photos from ads. If you must have some reference to a photo in the post, post a link to the photo, not the photo itself. Concentrate on the item for sale, and not the seller.

Please post a live link to the item. Do not post "PM me for the link".Short discussions can take place about the items listed. When quoting a post, edit the quoted post to include only the part you are replying to. Do not post the entire ad text, or large blocks of it, without permission from the author. Keep on topic, please!

Buyer Beware- CN is not responsible for any of the ads or auctions posted here or their content. There are some scams floating around, so do your homework before pursuing any ad.

and this note from the moderators
Let's remember everybody, there's no one place that has all the best-used scope finds just as there's no one place that never has anything. All have something. No need to beat subjective matter, whatever the topic, into the ground. For the sake of all of us who love the classic forum, please keep moving the threads forward. Remember that many of your fellow forum members are already vintage themselves. Instead of restating your opinions over and over, consider sharing something new, insightful, or otherwise constructive to the topic at hand.

And a 1" shaft Edmunds GEM from godelescher.  I'd be interested in it for my 102M if I had't already bought a Vixen GP from him, which is my most favorite mount ever.

FC -76  being auctioned on Astromart......

bids now at 510  reserve not met   going 3 more days but bin is 1k...

interesting  seller says it is an older model   but clamshell is the light baby blue not Tak green

I would think older model meant older   30 year old orginal FC like mine    just saying

$1000 isn't bad for it.

And it has a thin metal objective cap, not the thick, heavy ‘manhole’ cover. My ‘97 has the mint/seafoam green clamshell, focuser body, finder bracket, and manhole cover.

Tak does not have the mark on the lens cell for multi coated lens. Serial number looks to start with a 2, 1982?

That was posted before. Sure looks like a bigger scope than a 12.5".  Too much for my back. Price is good.

There was a FS78 for sale also not far back. For like $1300.

IIRC didnt they use 16" I.D fiberglass tubes for the 12.5?

SIMOR ("See More"?) 60mm x 600mm refractor with intact wooden box, accessories and tripod / mount for $50.00 in Ottawa. Looks a lot like my Polaroscope (Yamatar) 60x910:

Looks from the serial number that it's from 1985.  The olive green focuser corroborates that time frame.  My 1985 Epsilon 130 is that color (well, plus the yellow tube).  My FC-76 is from 1982, and the focuser (and clamshell) are metallic blue-gray, an even earlier color.

I thought it was a 5.

Tim, I think you are right. Last night when I blew up the picture on my phone I thought I saw a faint number 2 in front of the 5. After looking at it again, I think I was seeing something else, not a stamped number. Also if the second number was the first 5, I think that would mean over 5000 made that year. Doubtful.

Yes, I think they did. I think the tube on my 12.5" Meade RG is a little over 15"

I think it was around 16" OD as mine was and could use a 12.5" or 14.5" mirror in it. That looks like a 18" OD tube.

You'd pay around $1000-$1200 for a TeleVue 76 and I'd much rather have the Tak.

The dew shield is a mess, and the Crescent wrench is NOT a Unitron wrench.

Never heard of Baytronics but for that price if I was close I would give it a try.
