Hi all:

I'm not sure where or whether to post this.  It's an ad for one of these for sale in San Juan Capistrano, CA.  The asking price is only $500, seemingly way too good to be true, so I suspect that it's not a legitimate ad.  I have too many scopes, including a few that i use for astrophotography, so I don't need one of these, and so I'm not inclined to inquire about the ad.  But in case it's legit, and someone here is interested, here's the link (Mods, feel free to delete this post if this isn't appropriate here):  https://orangecounty...7562764904.html

I was able to get a few hours outside in the mid 20's last week using the Dew Heater Package on the Stellina.  M13 cropped and Zoomed, 10 sec subs, 30 minutes, Bin 2, CLS Filter.  I was trying to "see" any dark lanes in the core with some limited results.  I will try M15 at Bin 1 for an hour in the next few days.  Pat Utah smile.gif

Yes, I also got the message today and have updated my Singularity app.

Now to go on and update my Stellina, too.

Messier 45 - The Pleaides. MOSAIC mode.

3820s.

I was hoping to go longer, but the battery run out.

I've cropped the top as one could see that it was of lower quality as mosaicing (?) wasn't finished.

Nevertheless, I am impressed. Messier 45 copy.jpeg

M42 cropped, but otherwise direct from Stellina. 1273 10s subs. It looks nicer w/some sharpening and noise reduction.

I keep finding for Stellina (especially the auto stacked jpgs) that it really benefits from darker skies. Obvious, yes, but the stacking algorithm doesn’t do much with details after about 1-2 hours and it doesn’t seem to impact noise very much.

I've been clouded out since the Holidays - completely throughout January this year.

I *finally* got a clear night last night - WHEW!

Here is M42 (the Orion Nebula) in mosaic mode, 196 stacked 10 second images:

Today, I received another software update notice from Vaonis.

The newest version is now 2.16, and comes with Singularity 1.16.1:

Screenshot 2023-03-28 at 3.08.11 PM.png

Notice that the new feature is:

- Live Focus | automatic focus correction during observation (beta mode), part of our AcutENS technology

I can't wait to try this out!

Yes, I am looking forward to trying it too.  It will be nice if we do not need to refocus during a capture.

Live Focus report.
My Stellina performed well during a 3 hour observation/capture period from interior temperature of 70f at 7:15 pm, to an exterior temperature in the San Diego foothills of 62f, immediately thereafter downloading the new refocus software feature from the app, and initialization at 7:30 pm; and finally, two captures encompassing 2 long sessions until 11:00 PM at which time temperature was 53f.
While seeing was sub-nominal, the atmosphere was clear and reasonably dry.

No temperature warning appeared and focus appears to be normal for all captures. The new Live Focus software appears to have worked well.

Great work, Vaonis!!!!

Great,  that sounds like a real winner.  That temperature warning was a real pain for those longer captures when the temperature was falling.  Thanks for posting your results.

Can anyone tell me why my image looks so blotchy?

Pelican Nebula, ~900 10s subs.

It was warm last night (mid 70'sF) and there was humidity, but I believe it was clear (I was sleeping...I relied on the forecast). Is this just bad seeing or something else?
