I have a friend that does amazing work carving jade, other stones can be carved as well if the stone is free of fractures and the right hardness. I was looking at one piece and thought the shape just right for a pendant, I’ll have to send it overseas with someone so it’s a bit of a hassle right now with all the COVID restrictions so I thought I’d ask before starting, is there anything I should be cautious of or look for, I don’t see any shock fractures, there is a nice amount of nickel iron and it seems to have good hardness. My friend will know when he sees it but I thought best to ask first just in case.
this is the meteorite in question next to a photo copy rough sketch;
this one was two pieces found in close proximity so I added another fish to the string;
the spider is a ring carved from black nephrite and the rice pie is another natural color untreated jade stone he carved, I think cut and polished the meteorite will work well with the color and iron nickel flakes if the stone is solid through and through?
