I've always enjoyed doing outreach with my 8 inch LX90. Decided to experiment with EAA as I always wanted picture of what I have seen. Cameras held to eyepiece really was not cutting it although I did get some good images of the Venus and Mercury transits. Picked up a Sbvony 305 pro and stuck it on the back of a Orion ST80 on a Orion Skyview Pro mount. It was an amazing transition. Still very much observing but I have proof of what I saw. EAA has cost me (so far) a ZWO ASI294 Pro, SharpStar 94 EDPH, HEQ5 and a 6.3 reducer for the LX90.
Outreach kind of puts you under the gun. Limited time makes for a quick setup to get something to look at. The images below where shown on a projection screen about 10 ft square. I have a 25ft hdmi cable that I could send images to the rangers projector. Showed these in a bit more than an hour. Alignment was close enough aided by plate solving and a lot of gain to get an image quickly.
This event was given on October 9th 2021 at the Galena Creek Visitors Center. Combined effort of the Rangers and "The Astronomical Society of Nevada" (Reno). I did the scope work, the ranger and another member did a presentation.
