Recently got a Parks Jovian 90 WP 1200/90 Mak/Cass with Parks 16, 26 and 32mm Plossl EPs, Parks Barlow, original case and Parks tripod.

Apparently (thanks Rmollise) some of these were made by JSO in Japan and some made elsewhere. I'm curious to know where/who made mine.

No indication on scope, EPs or elsewhere about manufacturer. BUT- in the case were two separate manuals. One by Parks. The second does not mention Parks and describes the scope as-

"Astro Telescope and Spotting Scope 1200x90 (III)"

No other identifying info in this second manual. Interesting though that this manual specs F/13 whereas the lense specs F/13.3.

Was "Astro" a separate company at the time?

Any way to tell whether or not this scope was made by JSO, and if not, by whom?

Thanks

The JSO's we sold in the shop were all approximately f10 SCTs.

The Parks Jovian 4 is an SCT that was initially made by JSO. My understanding is that the Jovian 90 was introduced in 2001, after JSO went out of business.

My understanding is that the Jovian 90 - grey armour, waterproof, nitrogen purged - was made in China, and was not a JSO product.

My old Photon Instruments Maksutov was a sibling from the same maker (albeit not sealed/waterproof).
