Thank you. I switch OTAs on the Stellarvue mount between the AT102EDL, a Celestron C6-N reflector, and an Orion 120ST refractor. Variety and a sound back for an old visual amatuer astronomer.

My most recent setup: Orion Eon 120 ED and Sharpstar 140PH. Looking forward to testing these two side by side as the focal lengths are only 10mm apart.  I have two Baader zooms and two identical diagonals, so I don't have to switch anything out.

Jason, that is a setup for the ages. With that rig, on clear nights, I would never sleep.

Thank you.  It's been a long time in this hobby and just to be able to say I own this setup is quite satisfactory to me.

Omegon 110 CF on AVX mount.  The mount got hypertuned, and the Omegon was the 1st scope I put on it after the hypertune.  The Omegon has an F6 FPL53 doublet.  It has amost no color error, probably even less than my SW120 ED.

I've owned literally hundreds of refactors over the last 35 years, but this is my first TV76.

My 6" f/15 Jaegers Mk II...

Jaegers_Cave (2-2-2025)-2.jpg

I originally had my 6” f/15 Jaegers riding on my tall Atlas EQ-G and I was pretty happy with it. However, it felt a bit… fragile. It works okay and the Altas handled it well, but I wanted something a bit simpler and robust, particularly if I ever wanted to use the Jaegers at an outreach event. To make a long story short, The Jaegers now rides on a Cave equatorial mount with 1.5" shafts on top of a modified Meade Giant field tripod. A quick test this evening showed this to be a very stable platform that is very easy to use. Wonderful!

My go to setup for outreach events is the Stellarvue SVX-180T and the Tak FC-76DS for wide field viewing.

My newly received Stellarvue SVX102T-RA Stardust Blue refractor. Mostly a visual astronomer, but the quality of this scope makes it clearly the Swiss Army Knife for numerous applications. The OTA color is also outstanding. Waiting for some clear skies for first light.

I also use a mounted PiFinder on a FeatherTouch focuser, as a plate solving computer, to locate deep sky objects. PiFinder box is wholly self contained; no optical encoders to install. Usually though, it’s a red dot finder or green laser and star maps for my Stellarvue MC-2 alt-az mount and telescopes. Great experience overall.

Yes it is.  Very nice.

I have had mine since 2000 / 2001, it is bluish black.  Very stable.

Just geared up with my first 4-inch class Apo and did the first-light observation several days ago. I have been fascinated by so many beautiful refractors here for many years and it's time to share mine.

This is my new scope.  I have downsized yet again, and this one is a winner!  It's a beautiful Astro-Tech 90EDX.  The scope has great optics and a great focuser.  My Mach 1 has no trouble handling this 12-pound beauty!

RAKing,

You're over mounted for sure.   Nice feeling isn't it??

Joe

I bought my Mach1 in 2008 with the feeling that it could handle anything I ever bought.  And it has been a wonderful companion all these years.  So as time has gone by, we both have grown old together, and this mount is my trusty friend.  I wish I could still handle the bigger scopes, but I can’t do it any more.  So both my mount and I deserve some nice, smaller gear.

This AT90 is a special scope and my mount and I both enjoy it!

YES! It feels great!

Ron
