hello everyone i have a eq6-r pro on order and i plan to connect to laptop via the usb-b port on mount. when i search amazon for this cable it has many different specs. my laptop has usb3.2 gen-1 ports . do any of you choose a specific brand for their specific qualities , most compatible, more flexible, last longer, higher speed, durability, ect-? and also am i limited to how long the cable can be?

I recently bought a 5€ cable from ali. It doesn’t matter if it is 2.0 or 3.0 but I bought a 3.0 just in case. All my cables are 2m long.

That appears to be the rj45 end. My mount should have the usb-b port on the mount for direct connectivity to a computer.

Initially, I used just about any USB cable that stuck to my foot when I got up.

But, nowadays I use the most optimal length cable as possible.  All my connections go through a powered USB hub velcroed to the tripod leg.  There might be some concern about signal fidelity when you introduce lower quality cables at extended lengths.

Interestingly, Ive heard skywatcher personnel make repeated statements about the unreliability of USB interfaces/cables.  In fact, they recommended using the ST-4 cable to the guide camera rather than the USB interface.

PHD2 folks have realized that many idiopathic guiding issues are often caused by a bad USB cable.

I use them prolifically.  Just keep in mind that their integrity may degrade so keep it your toolkit the possibility of changing out a USB cable if things arent making sense.
