Hello,

I'm using a Celestron 6 SE mount with StarSense.

Use CPWI to do alignment (works perfect).

To do EAA I use SharpCap.

When, after successful plate solving, the command to align & sync is sent to the mount via CPWI,

the error "could not communicate with CPWI" is returned.

Note: when I use a plate solver outside SharpCap (Tortilla) the same error shows up.

Is their someone using this setup with the same experience? Or perhaps without this error?

Note: when I use the classic ASCOM Celestron Telescope Driver, no error is generated.

Thanks in advance replying.

I have something close to your setup. I have a Celestron AVX mount that I control using CPWI. In SharpCap under Settings/Hardware/Mount I have selected CPWI. I have never seen the error you have.

A couple of questions

  • Can you slew the scope manually from SharpCap? Or do you get the same error?
  • What version of SharpCap are you running?
  • Did this work before and then break? Or has it never worked?

Slewing from within SC is possible.

Always latest version installed.

Sometimes it works, most of the time not.

I did contacted Robin Glover and we looked at this issue together.

Sent CPWI-ASCOM log files.

I think it is not SharpCap related because my "non-SC" test with AstroTortilla also generated the sync error.

I suspect the cause must rely in the CPWI driver talking to the SE mount.

I did also contacted Celestron but not received a reply yet.
