Here's my Brandon 94 on the Alt-Az Mount with the Vernonscope 8x40 finder.  I'll set up the Eq mount next.

Indeed beautiful instruments !!

My first look through the Brandon was @ Stellafane about 20yrs ago ... Howie Glatter was camping next to us and had his setup.

They truly are stunning! I’ve never had one but I have to admit, I was smitten and star-struck with the first one I ever saw.

Just love that light blue color. Tarheel blue? Baby Powder Blue? 94mm f/7 my perfect size refractor scope if only I purchased one back then. Great pictures.

The Unitron looks were the best of any scope.

They looked elegant, rather than tank-like which characterizes many scopes now.

That's the rub.  Few scopes have colour now, apart from some anodized parts on some.  Back then, cars, like scopes often came in colours.  Today, people are too worried about resales which means black or white and nothing else.

That is the lightweight model.  Seems some didn't like the weight of the Unitron focuser and cell.

I have a Brandon 98 ... yes, 98. See http://www.jayreynol...ndon98.text.pdf. And I am innocent, I didn't do it.

I have heard that there is supposedly another similarly modified "98" out there somewhere.

I have since repainted it -- a previous owner had replaced the original robin's-egg  blue with powder-coated gloss black, which I did not like because in my experience black tubes tend to cool to below air temperature, and thereby collect dew and encourage tube currents. The telescope is now pearlescent pink with gold trim. An image might be embarrassing.
