If it's like other Cartons (excluding beginner models)  a Vixen should fit.

I don't remember ever seeing a 60/1200, did you mean 60/1000?

Yes, my mistake, I did mean 60/1000.  It isn't a beginners model and it will be here tomorrow.  If the Vixen adapter fits, I will be quite happy.

60mm Carton focusers

If it's like this:

Aerolite-Focuser.jpg

Yes.

Look for the finder mounted on the focuser

If it's like this:

Carton-Cres-focuser.jpg

No.

Finder is mounted on the tube and it's cone shaped where it meets the tube like some Towas

I've seen some 60/1000mm Cartons with this type of focuser but they were Alt-Az models as was this 900mm.

The Vixen Adapter does not fit the 60mm x 800mm Asahi-Pentax.  It's the right diameter but the wrong pitch.

I have one of those, the cover over the focuser pinion gear is marked <C.O.C.>, i.e. Carton. I confirm that the Vixen adapter fits as I have one.

Yes, according to the photos and the assembly diagrams of this scope, the finder is attached to the focuser.  It is supposed to be here today and I will know better then.  This scope is a Carton made Monolux 60/1000 and it is on an EQ mount so I should be good.  I will also know better what model Monolux it is.  It has C.O.C. Monolux printed on the cell.

Well because of the inclement weather in the NE, my scope won't be here until tomorrow.  It came from Massachusetts and finally made it to Georgia early this morning.  I do hope that the Vixen adapter fits it.

Good topic LGM!

Does Not Fit:

I have an old Sears Discoverer 80mm f/15 (or Towa 339 by other nomenclature) and the Vixen 36.4 1.25 adapter does not fit the .965 drawtube on this scope. I don't have dimensions for the vb it uses at hand right now, but can get them.

Fits Fine: (with extension tubes)

My C-4.5 newtonian (Vixen) uses one of these adapters for the eyepiece, and also an extension tube - both 36.4 thread, and they fit just fine. Likewise with my Comet Catcher, same  threads as well.

Cheers,

T

Another option is a Baader 1508039 36.4mm to T-2 adapter ring, onto which you can add any T-2 threaded visual back, diagonal, or other accessory.

Fits:

Sears 6344, 6345

Monolux 4380 (AO)

Daylite 60/910 (K)

To be checked - using the focuser on the AO 60/910 scopes (Tasco 7T, Monolux 4380 etc.) which screws into the tube, on the Tasco 10TE-5 and similar scopes - Sears 6339a, AO R-74, Scope 76/1200 etc. I seem to remember this works but that Tasco is buried and I'm not going to unearth it right now smile.gif

edit: CONFIRMED. https://www.cloudyni...4380/?p=7884710

This is the easy way to do 1.25" on these 76mm AO scopes!

https://agenaastro.c...03-1508039.html

i just ordered one of these just a few minutes ago after finally finding one for sale in canada

https://www.baader-p...2-part-11).html

notice it says t2 on the side.  i believe it is the baader t2 (female fit) helical eyepiece plus the t2/36.4 adapter you are listing for only $5 more than the helical focuser alone.

if correct, then the adapter is nearly free and you can use the helical eyepiece on any t2 threaded option.  which i intend to do with my rao r73 since i want one.

worse case i have a helical vixen vb.

$52 at Agena , which is actually $4 cheaper than the T2 visual back / focuser by itself, but out of stock.

It's a bummer because just 2 years ago, these were available from Japan for $15, now $25

https://www.ebay.com...rsAAOSwJ6NbwZyu

These are still a relatively inexpensive add-on (in quantity 1 or more than 1) to the parcel for any medium or large Zen-Market item that you [or someone you know* : - ] may soon be purchasing, since the size and weight of the #3720 adapter(s) are not likely to make any significant impact to the shipping cost you will be charged for a medium or large Zen-Market item parcel ....

https://zenmarket.jp...Code=B00140CEAE

Through Amazon-Japan, no need to fuss with auction bidding, or sellers with no prior sales feedback, etc.   Price quoted on the page above does not include Zen-Market's purchasing fee (a single charge of $3 total for Zen to purchase #3720(s) for you from Amazon-Japan, irrespective of the quantity you request) nor does it include the shipping cost within Japan from Amazon's warehouse to the Zen-Market warehouse (which cost me $5 total for quantity=3 recently).   YMMV.

Cheers,

this just arrived, and i confirm you get

1.  a removable vixen 36.4mm to t2 male/male adapter

2.  a helical focuser with a t2 female thread.  it has travel of about 1/2"

3.  brass compression ring 3 bolt 1.25" visual back.  not sure if this separates from the helical focuser but it looks like it does.

i am pretty happy with this set up.  i can use the adapter with a regular ebay compression fit visual back and put the helical focuser/vb where required.

Does fit Takahashi TS-65 and TS-80.

(But because of the single set screw on this, I far prefer either the Takahashi compression adapter or the three-screw low-profile Baader adapter.)

Fits my Vixen 80M, both the drawtube and the weird factory diagonal that mounts with a 36.4mm thread and has a removable visual back with the same thread.

No surprise since this is why the part exists from Vixen. wink.gif

Jason saturn 324 (80/1200)

Aerolite  859 (Swift/COC) 60/910

So, are you saying that it DOES fit the Jason 324 Saturn? I happen to have one of these that I am trying to get up and running...and I'd appreciate any help in getting to to use 1.25" eyepieces. Id like to avoid the hybrid diag is possible.

Thanks, Todd

Hi Todd,

If the draw tube has a 36.4mm thread it will work.  Another option is a 36.4mm to M42 (T2) adapter and a T2 based visual back, for example:  https://agenaastro.c...03-1508039.html

Here is one that includes both parts:  https://agenaastro.c...er-2408195.html

The Vixen adapter will fit the Tanzutsu and Vixen made Tasco 9VR/99VR/999VR family of short tube 60mm refractors. The Vixen adapter will NOT fit the Towa made Tasco 11T 4.5" Newtonian reflector. The Sears 6305A 60mm equatorial refractor made by Towa cannot use the Vixen adapter.
