Almost bought this but I decided to wait for one a little closer and less expensive.

Classic Tak FC-100

https://astromart.co...c-100-beautiful.

might be a good deal for someone though

I went ahead and bought it. Got it for a better price & more so Bob’s recommendation of Christian helped me decide to jump. Now for a proper mount.

You will love it. And if you get tired of it i am close by. I took a pass on that Tak we were talking about and may get a  10" Teleport.

Not a classic scope, but surely a classic.

A Made in Japan Meade 2" focuser in New condition.

Congrats Nick!  His price is reasonable.  If I read the SN correctly, it's a year older than mine, and the cosmetics are mint compared with mine.  He also includes some of the stuff I had to buy, plus a lot of cool stuff that I only recently acquired.  IOW:  Add up my Initial Buy + Parallax Rings + Additional Rings & Things...  Not a Bad Price at All.  Here's a break-out for my 1988 FC-100...

$1500 - OTA, mint conditions! [Mine IS NOT Mint --  No Dents, but a few paint dings.]

$0000 - Finder, 7x50 plus bracket [included]
$  200 - Couple of 114mm Cnc Rings [Parallax]
$0000 - Original 0.965" visual back, cap, compression ring [included]
$0000 - Takahashi Visual Back 31.8mm, mint. [included]
$  200 - unused Baader M72 Click lock 2", Boxed [2" accessories in this frac = Pure Fun!]
- dedicated CAA, smooth and perfect, hard to find.
- Dedicated Ca35 plus EOS T Ring
- F 5.9 Focal reducer unused, Hard to find.
$  200 - Orion Padded Case. [TS Hard Case]

$  300 - Shipping & PayPal Fees

I get a total of about $2500...  Mine came with the Cradle, so that would reduce my price, but yours includes the CAA and the Reducer, so that's in your favor.  If you wind up with ~ $3000 invested (indluding shipping), IMO, you still got a good deal.  Any of the Extras you don't want, you can always sell separately...

You will love The Views!  Every time I use mine...  No Way! this is a 4" refractor!  15x to 400x... now that's versatility!

This is a terrific scope! I know the FC100 f/8 and have got a FC100 f/10 both the classic version. These are among the very best 4” apo ever made.

That is definitely beautiful! $2836.00 USD is way to much tho!

Maybe it includes shipping. Must cost a good bit to ship on the slow boat from China. Or maybe it is coming on a plane.

I would kill to try one out and really kill to find a gray NJP-160 to hold it.

It’t a beautiful scope. I didn’t notice that Nick had purchased it when I commented on the price. I went ahead and removed my comment. Also, he said he got a better price.

As a rank amateur, I say it looks like an awesome restoration project. The objective looks great.

Here’s a special Kenko NES-80. It has extreme hope.

About what year do you think that Alvan Clark was made? It seems to be made mostly out of aluminum.

What does the group think of this Kenko ST120?  Is it likely older and Japanese made or newer with Chinese optics by Synta?

The 2" focuser and a couple other details make me think it's the latter.

It’s Synta. I think the only Japanese made scopes like that were the Mizar 127 and 152mm. I think all of Vixen’s short tube, large aperture models had either an abnormal dispersion element or a petzval design.

That sure looks Synta to me! I bet that just like Vixen, Synta makes stuff for Kenko too. It is exactly the same, focuser, cell, etc.

About the 3" Clark. After my visit with Dan S. in Long Beach and if memory serves me scratchhead2.gif , the aluminum Clarks are early 20th century possibly into the 1920s? I believe none of the Clarks were around when they were made but they were still made in the tradition and are still very collectible. I also think any true blue Clark collector might clean what they could, but would never restore it.

Chip W.

Hi everyone,

If you compare the shipping label on the outside of the box describrd above, it is the same as the one in the Ebay add. So unless the person in the above thread and the one selling on Ebay are the same, I hope the person in the thread lets us know if he sold his Type T Clark of is the person offering it on Ebay.

Cheers and Happy New Year,

Dan

The seller said he'd try to post better images.  But from this it appears some corrosive event happened outside or inside the scope.
