Bushnell Sky Chief II (60/910) in wooden case - $125 in Santa Monica, CA

I would go 5k for a freaky sharp fork mounted C14. But it has to be as freaky sharp as my freaky sharp 1984 C8 was. So that is a million to one.

The tube is probably worth $250 smile.gif Not the OTA, the tube smile.gif

I would pay for $250 for the OTA if the optics are super sharp.

Saw this orange tube C8 in the Huntsville, AL area.

What a beautiful job restoring it...

Buy it, test it. If FS enjoy. If not, sell for double.

Here is one you don't see often ... Lomo Astele 70 Mak Cassegrain Telescope ... I have the 60mm version of this scope & it is outstanding , going to very high magnifications for it's size ... If you don't have one get it ... You won't be sorry ... https://shopgoodwill.../item/138024473

Guys. Do you think that is a good price for that scope? I know some vintage Edmund stuff can be quite desirable which ultimately determines the price but I really have no idea about this one.

Bruno

I sold one for a friend some years ago. I would say it has potential. The secondary is on a stalk attached to the focuser. Glued to the stalk IIRC. No way to finely collimate the scope with that arrangement. Replace that with a better secondary mounting. The primary mirror IIRC did not have an adjustable mirror cell...so do something about that. The tube was okay but no space for air flow. With those problems I have no idea if the optics were any good.

But, if you fixed all that and if the optics are good you might have a nice Milky Way sweeper. Even cradling it like a baby while you sit in a chair.

By comparison the one Astroscan I looked through kept my interest for about 30 seconds.

5 hrs left on the Alvan Clark on Ebay. Up to $1525! I'd be game and could pick it up in person but I'm afraid I haven't the skills to do it restorative justice. undecided.gif
