I am a new user of NINA and I really like the User Interface.  I have been looking for a support forum for NINA just like other software programs usually have but I have found nothing. Is there a support forum for NINA on the web?

The discord server is hard to navigate and intimidating at first, BUT..the people on it are amazing. If you can’t find the answer there, post your questions (in the appropriate section-which can be a trick to determine) and you will get an answer. I’ve ultimately got every issue resolved.

ALSO..watch Patriot Astro on you tube. Start at the beginning and work your way through. He is amazing and now I’m feeling very confident using and building advanced sequencing sessions. NINA is absolutely amazing and has been the reason why I have stuck with this very challenging hobby. WATCH THE VIDOES!! It’s worth it.

I have read the complete document before I even installed the software.  I was just interested in following builds, problems, etc...  What is the link to the discord server? Yep, watched all the videos too.

While not "official", there are 2000 users on the peer support (not developers) Facebook group: https://www.facebook...400522936696744

I personally don't enjoy the Discord, but as a NINA financial supporter, I support the developers' choice and philosophy. It's their program, and they graciously share it with us at no cost. It's a beautiful thing and I thank them.

Yes, NINA is a beautiful piece of software and I also thank all who write the code.  I'm not on Facebook and will never be so I guess I'll miss the comments on the facebook group.

I was using the Edge browser when I could not get through. I tried using the Chrome browser and it worked. I am now on the discord server. Thanks to all that helped.

A little aside, but which version of NINA should I install (on Windows 7) on an X86 computer, the latest stable or the Beta version?

Please ignore.

Nevermind, I answered my own question.  The beta 2.0 version will not run but the 1.10... seems to launch.

NINA does not support Windows 7. It might work, but we will not fix issues that are specific to Win7.

I recommend upgrading to at least Windows 8. Then we'll be able to support you. Microsoft is not releasing updates for Win7 anymore, particularly in the .NET framework which we depend on.

This link should be good for a week to discord.   That's where you can get the fastest help:

And run the beta version and keep it updated.  It has the advanced sequencer and a lot of plugins (like the wonderful Three Point Polar Alignment).

One of the things that is broken out of the box with Windows 7 is anything in NINA that queries a web service that does not support TLS 1.0 or 1.1. Most sites support only TLS 1.2 and 1.3 now, and Windows 7's too old to support these without manually adding some patches from Microsoft and then setting some things in the registry.

This brokenness in Windows 7 effects NINA's ability to contact NINA's own website, which supports TLS 1.2 only. This means autoupdates and getting the main plugin manifest will not work. This breakage also affects NASA and ESA's sky survey servers and a growing list of other external sites that NINA and its plugins might interact with.

In short, there's nothing good about Windows 7 and it is surely time to move on from it.

Thanks for your reply.  I'de been using a Panasonic Toughbook 32 bit/ Windows 7 for years, but I guess, it's time.  The computer has run it's compatibility course.  You just gave me the push (nudge) I needed to upgrade.
