Just to clarify in general: the current versions of StarNet are not supported by the latest versions of PI, I will need to recompile them when I have time!

Yes I understand you have some work to do on the recompile hence I am trying to use the CLI version from your downloads page.

Keep ups the good work smile.gif

Can you share more details? What exact error messages are you getting and what are you trying to do? Also, what exact version are you trying to install?

The error message is usr/local/bin and usr local lib are not directories.

The install.sp reads;

#!/bin/bash
sudo cp ./starnet2 /usr/local/bin/
sudo cp ./lib/* /usr/local/lib/

My iMac does not have a directory usr.

Well, that's a bit weird. You have a couple of potential options:

1. Find what are the equivalent locations on your laptop for bin and lib above

2. Just use the cli version from it's folder (something like ./starnet2 ..... )

So, regarding the last plugin delivered for Mac. It is running as a line command program not included in pixinsight?. isn't it?

The version mentioned above has to be installed in PixInsight following the instructions. It then runs in PI as a process - very few parameters and seems to work pretty well.

Hello,

I've already posted on PixInsight forums, but CN seems to be better tailored for StarNet support.

Hello,

I've search for somebody else noticing this issue, but I couldn't find anything.
I have both PixInsight installations with both StarNet2 modules on Linux.

The "old" PI+StarNet is 3-4 times faster than the "new" one.
I've looked with "nvtop" on the GPU usage and the pattern is clear. The GPU is barely used and takes a long time to process on the "new" PI+StarNet. The GPU usage is much higher on the "old" one and it finishes much faster (blue lines on GPU0 - NVIDIA are the GPU usage).
Both installations have libtensorflow* removed, to use the one from the operating system, CUDA enabled (obviously, the GPU being used).

Anyone noticed this and/or have any idea?

LE: Forgot to mention the topic: StarNet 2.1.1 on 1.8.9-2 significantly slower than StarNet 2.1.0 on 1.8.9-1

I can't get StarNet to install on my Windows 10 laptop.

I think it may be due to some .dll files missing.

Has anyone had similar problems.

Having issues myself on Linux Mint. Put all the files where they need to be and PI search cannot find the module.

In the ReadMe.txt file on the next to last line, I believe the word LICENCE is misspelled.

I had StarNet 2 running on an older version of PI.  I downloaded some Seti Astro scripts and was also forced to update PI for them to work which removed StarNet 2.  I followed installed directions for install and I can't get the module to load.  Help please   win11  PI 1.8.9.3

My mini pc does not have an AVX compatible processor which would prevent me from using Starnet++, but I found a work-around with some compromises.  Intel SDE can be downloaded and used to run Starnet with an AVX compatible processor in emulator mode:

sde -adl -- starnet++.exe input_file.tif  (runs with Adler Lake (-adl) processor emulation mode)

This works in stand-alone mode using command prompt, and maybe it is possible to trick Siril to call a batch file to launch Starnet in emulator mode.  I would note that emulator mode does seem to run very slowly.  Generating a star mask on a 1000x1000 16 bit tif is taking several hours.

Or you can just forgo all of this and use a PC with an AVX compatible processor...

I’m trying to download the CL version to work with Siri and can’t get to the site. I downloaded the gui version a few days ago fine. Anyone else have issues? I’ve been trying since yesterday
