Slightly off topic, but has anyone scored an original copy of The Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies by Halton Arp? I have a copy of the ApJ reprint, but I believe the original version was larger and came in a three ring binder.

Currently on the way to me, a 1966 print job signed by both authors. If you have an image of how this original version is, can you please post it here or a link to it?

Found one for sale, here is description:"Pasadena: California Inst. of Technology, 1966. First [only] Edition. . Not bound, as issued. Near fine copy. Oblong 4 to (13.5 x 11 inches), xix LEAVES of text, 57 sheets of photographic plates (6 illustrations per plate)."
Just $2000 US.
I'll skip.
Also, Vol.1 of Carnegie Atlas back for sale: $90 plus $23 shipping, plus additional $29 for shipping of heavy item.

This forum continues to cost me money (I thought the eyepiece forum was a bad influence ). Thanks to this thread, I was able to find a 2 volume set that appears to be in mint condition at a very fair price. I'm now just waiting on shopatsky to stock the arp atlas...

Got my copy of volume 2 in the mail. I got to watch the mail person tote it up the driveway on the NEST cam.
Come on though...I thought everyone was saying this book was big...it's HUGE.
I never realized before, but many of these photos are processed multiple times to change the exposures so as to highlight the outer halos or the detail in the center. Also, I feel that proper galaxy classification is really a tough task and I have much greater respect for those who worked so hard to put some order on the whole thing.
I was reading the discussion of classification in the Hubble Atlas last night. There was major confusion about NGC 2685 and how it could possibly have formed with those rings around it. We can clearly see it as some type of merger with at least two separate galaxies, but I don't think they had that concept down yet...

Measured mine. Each is 448 x 351 x 36 mm, so quite substantial indeed!

Ok, got mine, only Volume 1 in very good condition.
It is huuuuge...
Also got the "A Revised Catalog of Bright Galaxies" new (also by Carnegie Institution). It mostly text, but I will cross reference it to Carnegie Atlas.
Ordered on Monday through Abebooks, got it today. Not cheap.
Wonderful book, very high quality photos (for time it was issued). Good thick paper.
Now the hunt for Volume 2 has begun.
As "buckingham_hoo" mentioned, this forum cost me money.

I have been eyeing a copy of Volume I on eBay since this topic started. The seller wanted $299 for it and I just thought that was too much - especially considering that I was able to get Volume II for $100. Last night, I tossed the seller a Hail-Mary and offered $100 for it. I expected them to give me a counter offer, or just say NO, but they quickly responded back with a yes. So now I have Volume I on the way. I'm having the concrete slab in my study reinforced now too...

As BookFinder shows, there are only two sets of Atlas available for sale for the moment:
one in US for $500, and another in China for $1000, both have two volumes.

I see a volume 2 on eBay, but it looks in poor condition and they want way too much for it.
I've been reading through the Hubble Atlas about the various classifications. Sandage mentions that many of the images in that atlas are overexposed and don't show the characteristic features of the types very well. Volume 2 doesn't start until about the SBa range (I never even knew there was an SBO range before), so I haven't been able to compare how much better the Carnegie images are.
Even though these books aren't cheap, they are very informative and fun to read through. I keep Hans Vehrenberg's Handbook of the Constellations open nearby to get a general idea where these galaxies are. Because of it's size, the Handbook is really useful when tracking down objects in Wolfgang Steinicke's new book about Herschel too.

Found Vol. 2 on Ebay. Not ideal condition, but acceptable. Seller asked $300 plus shipping. I've offered $175 incl. shipping. Seller agreed, but after some time cancel the deal. Looks like, he checked the cost of shipping from US to Canada.
Well, hunt is continuing. There is only one set on market right now, in China, and looks like it is reprint.

Best of luck with your search. One really needs the entire set of these. I use mine all the time for verifying details that I capture with my EAA rig. There are much better pictures out there, but these capture very close what I can see with the short exposures I get with the C8 - and they are all in one nice set of books. Obviously, half of the pictures are missing when you only have one volume...

Somebody selling two volumes on AM, can't see price, because I'm not willing to pay $15 just for checking the price. Can somebody with open login, check how much is asking price. Thanks.
