Just for those interested ... I asked the seller the following questions about the Unitron 114:

1. Are there any scratches on the objective?

2. How is the coating on the objective? Any streaks, coating damage, discolored, un-even etc? Many of these scopes from this time period had coating issues and they can't be recoated without ruining the optical configuraiton. I am not interested in the scope if this is the case and asking for conformation before I place a bid.

3. Any chips, including edge chips or flakes on the objective?

4. Are there any dents, even small ones on the OTA (Optical Tube Assembly)?

5. Any rust OR corrosion on ANY of the components, including the chrome?

6. Any dents or bent components on the mounting head, setting circles etc.?

7. What shape are the wooden boxes in? Any noticable cracks? Are the edges coming apart or joints. Do the latches function properly?

8. Any dents in the finder scope?

Sincerely,
-Me

Here's what the seller wrote back:

There is minimal rust on some of the chrome pieces. We weren't able to find any dents, scratches, or other damage to the other equipment. The wood case it comes in is retangular. The latches do function properly.
