I have the AT 115, and I just purchased a Vixen rail from Astronomics ( from the OPT auction ), putting that one on the bottom and mounting the shortie up top. My question is: what kind, size, type, length screw holds those rails to the rings. I know any bolt that fits and doesn't hit the ota will work, but what really goes there? Thanks

I believe they are M6

Christopher, thanks. I think that's it; M6 A2-70, 8mm seems to be the one.

Not the most elegant solution, but it works

Hey it works! How long is that dovetail? I need to get a longer one for my AT115EDT too.

Here’s my AT115EDT with my Bortle 8 view overlooking downtown Cincinnati. And below is my first AT115EDT photo - Pelican Nebula.

My setup is similar to others…ZWO tripod and pier ext, AM5, Astro-Tech .8 reducer. ZWO ASI 2600mc pro camera. Guide scope with ASI 120 mm mini. ZWO EAF. ASIAir running it all. I put 20 pounds of weight in the tripod bag as well as my battery to help keep It stable.

I’m very satisfied with the AT115EDT. It works great!

From the photo looks like it works great! Also, looks like you're using the ZWO PE160 Pier Extension. It's a bit less expensive than the PE200, are there any drawbacks?

Less load capacity, I believe.

The 160 is rated for 13 Kg whereas the 200 is rated up to 50.

I'm decided to pull the trigger on the AT130EDT, but I want to take advantage of the full focal lenght for now, so I want to purchase a 1x field flattener as well. The one from Astro-Tech (AT2FF) seems not in stock at this time.

https://www.astronom...refractors.html

So, I'm wondering if the Explore Scientific one (looks very very similar) is going to work fine.

Any other suggestion?

Thanks.

The SFFX1 from Stellarvue is a nice piece of glass, and should thread onto your focuser's M68x1 thread. Their SVX130T variant has backspacing tuned to match the AT130EDT's 910mm focal length:

I use the TS25FLATG2 and it’s quite good.

I assume you meant to write "TSFLAT25G2"?

I'm looking for a new set of tube rings for my 115edt. I've found a few websites that have them, but they seem to be out of stock everywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Clear Skies,
Greg

I'm loving my 115EDT!  It has shown me things I have never seen before and it is definitely a lifetime scope.

Just placed an order for AT 115EDT to fill the focal length gap between my WO 61 and my C8. I debated this choice for quite some time and finally pulled the trigger after an m13 imaging sequence this past week. Here is what I am able to resolve with my wide field William optics 61mm under the shine of a full moon.

M13 2

I am excited to see how the AT 115EDL does. Going from a doublet to a triplet with twice the focal length should bring a smile to my face.

wondering how many of you remember your first impressions of the AT 115EDL for astrophotography… would love to hear some stories.

Patiently waiting for my new refractor to arrive!

You are going to absolutely love your 115.  I can't say enough of what a wonderful scope it is.  The quality of the build, the quality of the optics and of course the price.  It can't be beat.  Looking forward to your first light report!

Just took a peek at Mr. Saturn in the 130.  Gorgeous through the 7mm Nagler.  Not a hint of CA.   Relatively low in the sky.   4.5mm was cracking up a bit but I did not acclimate the scope.  Grab and go moment.  Put in the 22 Panoptic and let my wife cruise Milky Way for awhile.  Though not a hard corps fan the lovely star fields kept her at the ep for quite awhile.

I am still pretty happy with this scope though the beautiful MW had the 10" F4 SN was banging on its case to be let out.

I have to travel to wherever I choose to observe, since I live in a condo with no yard or driveway.  Because of that I decided to look for a soft case I can use for my AT115EDT.  Turns out the Tenba TTP34 is a perfect fit for the OTA + diagonal.  I did remove my camera angle adapter and replace with a Clicklock but the OTA length remains the same.  I choose to store the scope with dewshield extended so that I can make use of a longer dovetail.

Is my search faulty... or is there no owner's manual for the AT115 scope?

I got a "card", four pages on heavy cardstock with basic, minimal information on it

The card has everything most owners will ever need though. Most folks never disassemble or collimate, test optics and have no need for that. Kind of like a car not including a mechanics manual when purchased.
