Peter,

Could you say which telescope you have and its weight please ?

Also an estimate of the total payload you have in the photo.

Cheers

In the photo I loaded my skywatcher Esprit 100ED on the mount. The telescope weighs about 6,0kg on its own. Adding all the other stuff I would estimate a total weight of 10kg to 12kg for the setup in the photo. Also consider the mounts weight of 6,5kg. What makes a total of 16kg to 18kg loaded on top the carbon tripod.

I`m planning to buy this mount within a period of 6 month or so, will install it on a Losmandy HD tripod, will find a way to do the adaptation between mount and tripod as I did with my IEQ45Pro.

Will feel safe to install my loaded FSQ85EDX or TSCFAPO102 and possibly a 152 f/8 Apo, but for the 152mm will certainly need to add counterweights.

Mine is the same

There is no right or wrong position,an approximate is good enough. When you do your polar alignment or 1 to 3 star alignment, it will be just fine.

Yes of course, it doesn't matter, but it's weird. I don't understand why they don't have align the lines. But thank you for your answers ;)

Hmmm, Wouldn’t a single line in the middle have worked?

Well I received an email from deep space products that my mount was in last Friday but still waiting for shipment hope it’s soon this has been a long wait from September.  Not sure if anyone else has ordered there but I believe they are also the official contact for repairs and issues.

The design is correct but the cnc had its own opinion :) so it is clearly wrong in the engraving process. Sorry for this guys but anyway it does not affect the proper functionality of the mount.

We received lots of complaints that the NYX-101 now does not work with ASIAIR. As lots of customers has invested in the ASIAIR and in the equipment that ASIAIR supports I would like to make the following statement:

The NYX-101 mount works out of the box with any LX200 driver. As ASIAir 3rd party drivers are based on GPLv3 INDILib framework and adopted from there, they work flawlessly with any LX200 mount. With these drivers, ASI Air supports a wide range of 3rd party equatorial mounts from different brands.

NYX-101 is discoverable and working great with ASIAIR stock firmware, but the mount is not discoverable after the latest firmware update of ASI AIR.

After lots of complaints and some immediate investigation, we found that the “Pegasus Astro” manufacturing tag that the mount advertises “triggers” ASIAIR latest firmware to ignore the mount so USB connectivity is not possible. If you change the manufacturing USB discovery tag to anything else than “Pegasus Astro”, all LX200 drivers work fine, as previously.

I understand that this is a serious accusation of a mean way to protect your product with a competitive one but this bleeds the astronomy community and I do not find there is a sense of fair play and a healthy market on that.

I can understand a policy that you do not allow, from the beginning. other products and focus only on your products (for better support and development) but locking explicitly a brand, because it is an immediate competitor and it might affect your cash flow is something that I find it very bad.

There are ways to bypass this policy but we do not want to end up in a brand war. With all due respect, I will not comment further on this but I had to make a post and let our valuable users who bought the NYX-101 know why the mount does not work with ASIAIR now.

I do not use ASIAIR,  but is there any way from the user perspective to fix/bypass that  ? Guessing is from internal driver,

Does that affect home position? Which of the marks would be the right one to use ?

It’s a shame and at the same time very understandably that they are protecting their „ecosystem“ but it is one more reason to get rid of my asi air.

Until then… how do I change the USB discovery tag? Anybody knows that?

Dear Angelos,

For the next productions, the marking will be correct?

Considering the price and the quality of the product, it would be normal that the marking becomes correct.

Thanks to you.

Have a nice day.

Serge

So can you just select a different mount from the available options?
If so which one(s)?

I can confirm that the mount connects with ASIAir version 1.91 and it slews. in version 2.0 it don't recognize the device. so ZWO must thinks that Pegasus Astro mount is real competition because they block the connection.

This is not the first instance of unscrupulous anti-competitive behavior I am aware of from ZWO.

They have also threatened a shared US distributor to drop a competitors products or lose the ability to sell ZWO.

I am completely happy with my existing Pegasus products and am planning to get the Nyx sometime this year. It’s exciting to see these get out into the world.

Not really, zwo is just being spiteful and realize they have an inferior product in comparison. The fact that the 101 is not in the same price range clearly excludes it from being a direct competitor. Seeings that the previous firmware version works fine only proves something far more disturbing and obvious.
For anyone interested in reversing this blatant act of cowardice and corporate terrorism, post up their Facebook page and zwo, CN and SG forums to call them out and embarrass them. Bad publicity can be very expensive and extremely quick in this day and age. They are attempting a hostile take over of this hobby at the expense of other manufacturers who have been supporting us decades before zwo existed. The question remains is everyone gonna bow down and let them succeed? I definitely know what future swg mount Im NOT going to purchase and it aint the Pegasus...

I absolutely agree with you and support this point of view!

A Pegasus powerbox and a mele quieter are more versatile and cheaper then the asi air anway.

This is exactly why I have never used ASIAir, or their EAF or any other devices of theirs other than some CMOS cameras.

And even on that front, my next camera purchase will not be ZWO as a matter of principle.

Companies that add to the ecosystem in an open way will always get my business wherever possible.

For example, hopefully the Stellarmate Pro will come out this year.

And if Pegasus come out w cameras, I'm there for that given the quality of their other products (and v responsive customer service).
