ACtually, while I've never looked through the Leitz, I know somone who has - and they tell me the 31mm Nagler is every bit as good or better.

Yeah Tom, i think even though we have won the lottery and are exceedingly rich doesn't mean we have to spend vast sums when a cheaper product is just as good. Though it is fun to see what you could spend if you were nuts!!

I'd get the thin-film Gen-4 Collins I3 Image Intensifying eyepiece. What? Wait, I just did that...

How about a Zeiss/Televue crossover 25'' Maksutov on a lightweight but strong titanium GEM with hydraulic motors and a little car engine on the bottom, ABS, airbags, integrated television, computer, ultra-enhanced professional-grade ccd, 60000000+ object database, and a miniature nuclear reactor to power the lot up?

I would never win the lottery as I never play. I take my money and invest in stocks, bonds, cd's, etc....

It may not be as cool as the thought of winning the lottery. But I have much more than most lottery players do.

And my current eye pieces are:
Tele Vue Panoptic 35mm
Tele Vue Nagler Type 4 22mm
Tele Vue Plossl 20mm
Tele Vue Radian 14mm
Tele Vue Radian 8mm
Pentax XW 5mm
Tele Vue Nagler T6 3.5mm
Tele Vue Nagler T6 2.5mm

Well, I guess we all can't be so perfect.

First thing I'd buy would be an RC32-190F. A complete set of Naglers and complete set of Pentax lens for the optical impaired (good eye relief)

yeah, but there's so many wal-mart's. they reproduce like rabbits....

As do my shares in Wal-Mart. See, Wal-Mart can be GOOD for this hobby, as the more my shares multiply, the more things I can buy :jump:

Not just any lottery will do! If I won the multi-state lottery, I'd buy a surplus NASA high altitude jumbo jet outfitted with a gyroscopically-pointed 1 meter reflector, along with several large refractors.

Anyone want to catch the Venus transit at 75,000 feet over the Atlantic?

I like your style! Having used the RC20 at Kitt Peak recently, I would have to second this idea big time.
I'd also add a Denk II, the full line of Panoptics and a couple of Naglers.

Please no helicopters. Working in the offshore business I use them almost every day!
Reading all your reply, I feel like I indeed have won a lottery.
I was fortunate to get myself a nice collection of eyepieces.
For my 10" LX200 I use a small Nagler line such as:
9mm Nagler1
12mm Nagler T2 (The whale)
16mm Nagler T2
20mm Nagler T2 (The grenade)
40mm Televue Widefield (The Beercan)

And recently I added for the Tak Sky 90 a Nagler Zoom 3-6mm
The Meade has a 2" everbrigte mirror and the Takahashi uses the 2" Maxbrigthe to accommodate the TAK extender Q

Do you think it is possible to have already a dream combination together??
I think I have!

After pondering this question I guess my answer would be to have a small observatory built like Palomar. A fully equipped 200 inch telescope setup at a remote site where civilization is 20 miles away and NO LIGHT POLLUTION! Of course all my friends from CN and local astronomy club would be invited to stargaze to their hearts content. And yes it would also have 24/7 coffee available in 7 flavors (I like hazelnut) and plenty of donuts! but for now I will have make do with my little NS11GPS and Pronto.......

Burt Rutan will build you a little commuter vehicle so you go to it. Disappointing when it comes to star parties but think of all the money you will save NOT buying eye pieces.

Although you will waste a lot of time explaining it's not on a GEM nor a dob mount, nor any mount of any kind at all. Yet it moves so smoothly.

Tom,

I know someone who has the 30mm Leitz. It is a fantastic eyepiece. I was not able to do a comparison with the 31mm Nagler but the eye relief of the Leitz was much more comfortable.
